Connecting To A Laptop

I want to use my laptop as my monitor but am having problems.  The laptop has S video but I think they are outputs only.   And no video inputs.  I have an aftermarket cable that runs from my xbox and breaks into an s video male part.  Is there a way to reverse the s video with some kind of software or is it a hardware only issue?  Please let me know, thanks guys!

As far as I know there isn't but I could be wrong, but anyways the video input would probably be buffered, so when you move your joystick it might take a second for it to show on your screen.

After 30 seconds of searching... a solution. This thing is MCE-compliant, which means it has a hardware MPEG2-encoder onboard. It shouldn't cause any lag with gaming.

you would need a usb tv tuner... coaxial is not required.

Xbox on a laptop screen....hmm...never seen this before....and if possible it would be a  not so easy mod. But it would be nice yes...been able to use a portable screen that gets better resolution than a  normal TV...hmm...defenetly good...but then again...never seen this done before. Oh also...err... USB + Video...i don't think its possible.

You'd need to use a cardbus, USB, or FireWire video capture device.  My guess is the lag would make it unplayable.  Merged thread with identical topic.  dry.gif

No its not impossible, and no there isn't lag.  It depends on what you are willing to spend for a tv tuner.  I have a laptop that i used to play my xbox on after i was done basic training.  I have an Avermedia UltraTV usb 300 tuner, and man, it plays like a dream.  Only thing that is kinda shitty is the output for the sound.  I can't seem to get it to play through my laptop speakers so i bought a small set of speakers.   BUT before i did own a cheap ass tuner.  And there wasn't lag with it either.  The only thing was resolution.  It seemed the cheaper one would get all pixelated if you put it to full screen.  The one i have now can go full screen (17") without any kind of pixelation.  Man, its sweet to play on.
