Yeah I don't see that working. In fact I guarantee it wont because you would essentially be combining two signals into one. No to mention the fact that it wouldnt work for hi-def.

Ideally I'd like something with 7 or 8 component video/analog and digital audio inputs

currently I have:
Xbox (modded)
Xbox (unmodded for live)
PS2
PS1
GameCube
Dreamcast

I plan on building an HTPC within the next year as well as picking up a 360 (though I suppose the 360 can take the place of the unmodded Xbox) then who knows about HD-DVD or BRD players or other next gen consoles like the Revolution or the PS3... All of which I'll be using component or better to interface with my Projector.

With the exception of the Dreamcast (which has VGA out) all of the above have component outputs

My Projector Has a VGA port that can also accept RGB/Component signals

I'm looking for something in the sub $100 range, IR control is preferred but not necessary... anything over $100... I can get up and swap the cables myself

Spillage.... you do great A/V work... you ever write up that stuff about the switcher you built? I'd be all for building my own because then I can get exactly what I want

, but it switches 8 channels 7 on the back and one in a flip down cover on the front, all 8 include composite video / composite audio/Svid/component vid and 3 ports on the back also switch spdif and ether net so its perfect for xbox and ps2 or even putting your pc up on your big screen. only bad thing is that youd have to have the xbox button pushed when ftping, so i just have the ether net going to my router and not the switch

i forgot the name of it but if you search best buy for switchers its bound to pop up

it didn't come up in my search (probably because I was looking for relays because that's what he said he used here).
