MS Hi-def Pack
« on: August 01, 2004, 12:32:00 AM »

I just bought the MS Hi-Def pack for $20, but I'm deciding whether I should use it or return it.  It came with Hi-Def cables, and optical sound cables.  Will I notice any considerable difference on my 50" LCD Panasonic, or in my 6.1 Yamaha surround sound?

All I can say it makes a huge difference! I still remember when I my XBOX and I forgot to buy a HD pack and when I played Halo I was little dissapointed as a saw some grainy textures ( I'm very picky when it comes to detail! ) SO the next day and went out and bought the Monster Component Video Cables ( basically like the MS HD pack ) and when  I pluged and it in and ran Halo again I was shocked! Not only the grainy textures were gone, but all the colours were more vibrant. I definetely recommend upgrading the cables, but if you some money to burn then consider them. Hope this helps!

I'm definitly not gonna fork over 60 some dollars for the monsters.  But I should keep the MS pack then?  I've heard mixed reviews and I'm still a little unsure.  All I know is that my digital cable HD is AWESOME, and I want my games to look like that.

If you have an HD TV than you HAVE to have the HD pack!  Then check out games in my sig that support HD modes above 480p (i.e. Amped2).  They look amazing.

BTW I don't remember the MS HD pack including the digital audio optical cable, I think I had to buy that separately.

I guess the more important question I should ask, is if these cables will work with games backed up on my HD.  In theory they should, but I want to double check because the good folks at Gamestop had no idea.

if you have the HD pack, and you have the tv... then plug  it in and find out for yourself if you think its worth it or not.

you can always return it even if its open usually, since its hardware not software.

Hmm, I'm confused.

Do I have to have the MS HD pack, or does the Monster Cable XGL400 do the same thing?  It looks like the Monster Cable XGL400 has the proper connector, but that wouldn't do me any good if i can't switch the display to HD in the MS dash.  I'm sorry if i have things confused.

All you need is Monster Cable XGL400, it will have the connector for the xbox. You dont have to buy MS HDTV pack.
Personally, I'd say the Monster Cable one is better, since it has bigger cable, and gold plated connector.

I'm using the XGL400 with my HDTV.

I think that is what I am going to do.  After you spend so much on these tv's you might as well get the best picture you can get..
