1080i Looks Terrible On Dell 2001fp Lcd + X2vga

well i got my 2001fp today, and im thoroughly impressed. The picture is so crisp in windows and in games etc. It even interpolates quite well in games, xbox thorugh s-video is certainly playable but the lack of audio is very annoying. My cable has s-video and 2xrca right next to each other so the audio does not reach my stereo. Hopefully the x2vga will sort that out, what are the audio outputs!!! It kinda looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack. Any help??

I got mine yesterday and right away did the hex hack to get my dash and my dvd player to run in 480P instead of "I"
My question to you all is what do you have your dip switches set at. Right now all are at default off. Is there a better setting? And where can I get hex edits for some of my games so they will play in progressive? I mean if there is a way I guess I will have to break down and get a larger HDD and figure out how to get my games to it.

Most of the hex edit codes are in this thread:

QUOTE (aphesian @ Sep 11 2004, 08:22 PM)
My games look great on the Dell FP 2001 with the X2VGA, but with some 480p games they do not fill the screen and instead display in square in the middle almost filling the screen.  Is this normal for this setup?  Games doing it so far are ESPN NHL 2K5, and Burnout 3.  Crimson Skies and Mech Assault fill the screen perfectly.

Any ideas?

Try hitting the "auto adjust" button (the "+" button on the lower right of your monitor) when one of those small screen games is running and the 2001fp should adjust it to fill the screen.

I had that problem with a couple of games when I first started using the 2001fp, but after auto adjusting a few it didn't happen any more.

Hi guys, jsut got this today. PLugged in all the wires etc. and i was hoping to get to the dashboard settings using the 4801 easyview thing. Seems this cant be done on the 2001FP? or am i just using the wrong settings? what should the dipswitches be on to enable this?

If I didn't state it clearly enough before, here it is again:

The Dell 2001FP LCD monitor will not display the X2VGA/X2VGA+ 480i "Easy View".

You'll either have to use a regular "Tube" Crt to set up your dashboard, or hex edit your dashboard file to display in 480p.

You can try auto adjust, but I just disabled 720p.  I'd rather have Soul Calibur II full screen in decent resolution, than narrow screen in high resolution.

hey catgut, can i ask what dip swtich settings you have? Because mine still doesnt look very good, especially not up to par with normal RGB on a tv! Is this just because of the interpolation? On the occasion that XBMC plays the dvd at 720p however it looks very nice.

im not complaining about the shaprness vs AA, becuase for me the sharpness just isnt there. It looked very good on my CRT at 480p but i think its just the amount of interpolation the 200fp has to do to get down to 640x480 is really downgrading the picture quality. i just tried crash nitro kart in 720p and it looked very nice, shame not more games upport this better res. Especially fifa and halo/burnout 3 which im playing a lot at the moment.
