Could it be that because he is trying to ram 30fps signal into a 25fps display, surely something is trying to catch up and maybe it would make sense that a stutter would appear constantly every few seconds?

Just an idea , but if you switch your xbox to ntsc using enigmah and try using a ntsc signal on a a more moden tv see if it happens then.

i hav changed my video output to ntsc, and the stuttering stops, however i do no have a tv that supports ntsc so i cannot keep it at that. i need to work out why it is stuttering and how/if it can be stopped.

Not much you can do then apart from getting a new tv.

Can your tv do the 60hz option?

My tv can do 60hz mode but it cuts off the picture, that is a no-go.

Getting a new tv is not going to help because it is most likely not a problem with the tv. the xbox is supposed to allow ntsc playback with a pal picture, meaning it is most likely a problem with the xbox if it is not playing properly.

How can you say your tv does 60hz but then say it "cuts off the picture" thats like saying my car is can move but at the moment it can't,

Talking to a mate we reckon that because the display is trying to put an extra 5 frames each second that when it gets to 5 seconds (25 frames) the software tries to pull the film back in correct sequence (hence the jump)

I'm just not convinced its your xbox, try the system on a decent tv and im positive that you wont have a problem. Your trying to mix up diffent video signals and it aint going to like that.
