I am thinking of getting a Logitech® Z-680

Features: 5.1 Configuration • 500 Watts • Digital SoundTouch™ Control Center • Dolby® Digital & DTS® Hardware Decoding • THX® Certified

Considering I play a lot of action games like Wolfenstien, Halo, and Rainbow 6 I was wondering if this would help the "in game experiance" I also had my eye on these speakers for general music play since my car has a better audio setup than my room......

hackcrack, my friend has those speakers and they kick all ass.  they've got a phat, really thick sound thats very clear.  perhaps a little weak in the high end, but that sub can be bloody loud.  with toslink/fiber optic, the surround effect is really really good.  if your using spdif, it only supports 2x2, so the surround is just the frond left/right copyed to the back speakers.

I have Z-680s, and they're fuckin' outstanding.  i have em hooked up to my PowerMac G5 and my Box, and the sound is phenomenal!  though i'd prefer a full of 7.1 receiver, this is great seeing as that i live in a dorm room and i'm a broke ass student...

5.1 surround, moddedxbox, and a g5??? that doesnt sound broke ass.
i too have the logitech z680s. i went through 3 home theater systems just to get dolby digital 5.1 (optical connection) for my xbox, and these were the clearest, with the loudest bass, that fit the specs i needed.
if your looking for true 5.1 surround for your xbox, get these.

I have these and they are OK for the price. They certainly are loud. They sound pretty good for games, and the surround effect is very nice.

The main problem with them is the problem with all speakers of this type, no midrange. So, I give them poor marks for music, but they are pretty effective for games and movies. But you are getting 6 speakers, 500 watts, and dolby 5.1 sound for ~$250, so you can't really expect audiophile sound.

i too have these and i love em. they are nothin short from kickass. if you place one of the satelite speakers on the sub, it'll shake it right off. i learned that the hard way

I have them aswell...and about them shaking off a speaker, that's nothing.  I once put the sub to 100% on the control dealie (still only 50 percent on my computer) and it was shaking fairly heavy stuff off of my desk..hehe.  I put the computer up to 100% and then the monitor started to come off the desk..so I stopped.  Anyways, they're great speakers.  I use them with an optical cable with my xbox, and I couldn't ask for more.

Those PC speakers cost about the same as a Home Theatre setup! If they were a low cost lternative that would be one thing...but they're not! You'll regret buying them. There's no upgradability...that little controler would look ugly as hell in you entertainment stand...trust me! I thought about getting those myself before getting my home theatre setup.

in response to this guy, the controller is small enough to hide away if you find it that hideous.  As far as cost, i'm not sure what home system he's talking about, Wal-Mart?  Seriously, a home setup is gonna run you between $900-$2000, this is a cheap, incredibly high quality alternative to a 7.1 System with full Bose speakers...you obviously don't own a set of the 680s!
