Xbox Music Mixer Microphone And Xbox Communicator

If I bought the Xbox Music Mixer, would I be able to plug a normal headset into the adapter that the microphone plugs into and use it as a XBL Communicator?  I think they're both just USB headphones/mics but I don't know...
