Use My Computer Montitor + Tv-tuner To Play Xbox?
« on: July 06, 2004, 04:59:00 PM »

I just got a new 17" LCD screen. It's almost as big of a screen as my 19" tv. If I got a Leadtek PCI TV Tuner Card would I be able to play Xbox on my LCD screen?

Yes, with an rf connector for caoxial input, or you could do s-video for video and powered monitors for sound, if you have all the connections.

Or I could just get an X2VGA+. Would it work well with my NEC 17" LCD?

I'm looking on the website and it says:

The Xbox console can only display DVD's in 480i mode (480p mode is disabled by MS); therefore, it is not suitable to use X2VGA+ together with Xbox when you want to play DVD's. (We know that some users can play DVD's in 480p mode with X2VGA+ through some modifications on the Xbox console. However, we don't suggest in doing this way.)

Would this be a problem with Xbox Media Center?

Also, I read somewhere the X2VGA+ provides "Rare Full-Screen Gaming." Does that mean my games would only be on half the screen?

i use vdigi vga box along with some of team avalaunch devs
very nice
www.vdigi.com
all stuff works well as long as it's 480p compatible and most apps are
for games, www.hdtvarcade.com to see what is compatible with 480p and higher
works 100% with xbmc btw

vdigi does full screen gaming too
and there's no easy way to tell if any xbox vga box will work with a specific monitor unless get answer from someone with exact same monitor/vga box combo

just checked out the VDigi website. It looks like they just released a new version of their product. It says this:

"Improved Pcbypass - higher bandwidth, increased from 140MHz to 230MHz, support high resolution of PC bypass signal up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz with the best performance for 1024 x 768 @ 75Hz (or even higher)."

I wonder if that will improve performance on LCDs? I have an LCD and some people claim their LCD works great with the VD-Z3, but others say their LCD looks awful using the VD-Z3 adapter.

Hopefully the new "Enhanced" VD-Z3 works better on LCDs than the other one.

Thanks
