X2vga +
« on: June 22, 2004, 10:25:00 PM »

i just ordered one tongue.gif .well its still not listed in their web site.but i got this info and pics from their email.
Dear Customer:
Thank you very much for ordering the X2VGA. Due to the whole new X2VGA PLUS (X2VGA+) is about to be released and the present X2VGA has ceased to produce, we will ship out the new X2VGA+ as substitutes in 1 week.

The new X2VGA+ is the enhanced version of the X2VGA, but remains at the same price, which reserves the original functions of the X2VGA and has the following new features integrated to it.

1. Compatible with any version of the Xbox by brand-new design, and enables even more precise color performance!

* MS disables the high-definition video output on the PAL version Xbox (only sold in Europe, Australia, NZ, Hong Kong etc.), so it cannot work normally with the X2VGA+. However, the Xbox consoles sold in North America, Japan, Korea etc. which belong to the NTSC version, will work fine with the X2VGA+. Please take note of this in advance. We will not accept exchange or refund for this cause.

2. Providing built-in VGA and Audio pass through function (switch between the screens of PC and Xbox¡^, and most simplified connection. Switching visuals and sounds at the same time by pressing one single button (P.S. audio pass through function is for stereo sounds)

* Here below we attached you two photos of the X2VGA+. From the photo 1, you can see the connectors of VGA In, VGA Out, Audio In, and Audio Out for the newly added-in Audio/Video Switch function.

3. Offering both stereo and the perfect 5.1 digital audio output even in composite video mode.

*The digital sound connector still remaining on the side of the X2VGA+; please refer to the photo 2, the digital audio output - Toslink is beside the dip switch.

4. Remaining at the same small and exquisite size as the X2VGA, in spite of multiple new features adding to it.

In other words, the new X2VGA+ is the one with most complete functionality Xbox high definition VGA pack on the market. Best display quality, most simplified connection, and easy operation! It certainly is the best choice for users to fully enjoy the mind-blowing audio and visual effects of the Xbox.

Please allow us to remind you that due to the video and audio pass through function(switch between the screens of PC and Xbox) have already built in; the new X2VGA+ parcel will NOT come along with any accessories (the video selector and audio cable, please refer to the pictures on http://www.x2vga.com ) that originally bundled with the X2VGA. If this new arrangement makes you feel dissatisfactory and you wish to cancel your order, please email us your formal cancellation with your original order number(e.g.SN312366) to [email protected] before June 26 th, 2004, we will full refund to you.

Thank you again for your supports, and you patience! We believe that the new X2VGA+ will not fail your expectation.

Sincerely,
Neoya

QUOTE (akarnid @ Jun 24 2004, 08:30 AM)
Er yeah, why the fuck didn't they keep the composite outputs??   Am I supposed to cart around another output box if I so happen to want to use a TV?

According to the specifications on their web site (Which has been updated for X2VGA+, although it still has the old picture) it does have composite video output:

"Input: The specific Xbox AV Connector input, VGA In HD-DSub 15pin, Stereo Audio In (3.5mm)

Output: VGA Out HD-DSub 15pin, Stereo Audio In(3.5mm), Digital audio(Toslink), Composite Video"

Though I don't see the composite output anywhere on the pictures posted above. Maybe they're on another side?

3. Offering both stereo and the perfect 5.1 digital audio output even in composite video mode.

I know the original x2vga only has mono sound when in composite mode (found out in the manual AFTER I got it, wasnt mentioned on their site. When questioned, they said they are happy to modify it so it's stereo, but I have to send it back along with return postage costs US$5).

But I'm pretty sure even in composite 5.1 still works.... at least I don't think it refutes this in the manual. Since I don't yet have 5.1 I can't test this. Can anyone confirm that 5.1 via the toslink port still works in composite mode?

Much thanks...

Be interesting to see how much colour difference there will be in the new version, although since I only got mine about 2 months ago I'm not about to buy a new one...

If it's a x2VGA+, 1 & 2 are your Video selection (Both off for VGA, Both on for composite), etc, etc. Take a look.
