You wasent being sarcastic?  Sorry I gave you too much credit.  I'll make sure in the future I don't give you the kind of credit I give omegajedi. biggrin.gif

Ya' know, your message doesn't actually make much sense if you were being serious.  In the XBOX world, 2 years is a long time.  In fact, the XBOX is only a little over 2 years old so it would be impossible to have much more than 2 years experience.  tongue.gif

Will the X2VGA work with out the green shit? it is kinda pricy at $65. An I just want to play HALO link play in the office on our PC monitors. My coworker will buy one also, but he will not MOD his Xbox. So, will this work?

X2VGA does not need Sync-On-Green support, or a VGA bios to work with a monitor.

Yup and it's output looks quite amazing on a VGA display.

Your friend will not need to mod his Xbox... though he may want to apply the updated XBLive dashboard, which DOES support 480p mode on the X2VGA.

If you have a newer Xbox you'll want to avoid the Ebay ones.

Newer Xboxes have a slightly different configuration which the older X2VGA does not support.

You'll sometimes find people selling them because of this.

The new X2VGA fixes the problem.

I don't think anyone should rate someone's ability to contribute by:

  a. The number of posts they've made nor

  b. The length of time they've been on the scene

How else am I supposed to quickly pass judgment on someone then? jester.gif

Homer: Wait, Marge. Maybe if you're truly cool, you don't need to be told you're cool.
Bart: Well, sure you do.
Lisa: How else would you know?

Both do not indicate one's knowledge outside the scene and the fact that most knowledge is gained by reading not writing.

Mad Fenris

Sounds like a rather vain attempt to rationalize a lame post.

Who are you defending?

LOL!

That makes -ME- the "lame" poster!

(At this point I proceed to beat myself with a rather large spiked cudgel.)

Mind if I join you in beating you to a bloody pulp?

Honestly though, you have more answers to most people's technical questions than anyone else on this forum.  You have earned my respect.

do u think a rgb to component adapter (for older rca dtc100 hidef direct tv box) would do the same as x2vga (wired backwards of course component in to rgb out, used in combination with hdtv cables of course (isnt this the same thing that started this whole mess, but with different hardware?)

After having read about this in various places on this board I have decided to put my hand to constructing a circuit for the connection of an Xbox to a VGA monitor without the need for any special BIOS.  If/when it works I will release it publicly here and try to explain how it works  smile.gif
Wish me luck.

Mad Fenris

Will you not just be making a transcoder then?  There has been a diagram on how to make a transcoder, for the xbox, yourself on xboxhacker.net for 2 yrs now.
