hmm if you said that the set video mode hex is based on on the XDK... how many different versions of the XDK do you think there are?

do you think it's based on country or just software Revs of the XDK?

perhaps you could determine 2 or 3 versions of the hex and allow the patcher to work with all of them (a generic patcher for all 480i games would be much better than it only working with some and needing specific codes for others)

On a related note... aside from the fact that we already have a code for Hitman Contracts I'm going to try it with the generic code tonight  beerchug.gif I might have a few of the other games but I can't remember if I sold them or not not  rolleyes.gif

Also what does this patcher do getting games to play properly in widescreen?

EDIT: raydn: you should create a new thread for the generic patcher, or ask a mod to split this one.. then PM HSD and work out getting the ability to modify "threads of note"

Some of the games that don't have the hex string have variations, this is i susspect related to the sdk used when compiling the code, just a theory. It may be possible to make another variation on the hex for the remaining games. ... But i would advise using the other hex codes before the SetVideoMode hex and this only as a last resort simply because it disables all other information about the display settings such as setting widescreen, emulated refresh and 10x11 aspect. It would be nice to add this info to the hex when required but there just isnt space in the replaced hex (only 2 more 90's) I would need 3 to do that.

For example say

90 6A 00 90         push 0      (as used)
6A 10 00 00 00   (widescreen)
6A 00 01 00 00   (10x11 aspect)


lookout for copyhunters patcher , ill try and keep him updated on the patching 480i ;)

The string can be found and replaced in Hitman: Contracts, however I can't seem to get Evox to launch anything in 480p so I can't accurately test if it's working or not  sad.gif

EDIT: I just tested Kung-Fu Chaos (NTSC), Xbox DVD playback kit (MS Dash), and DVD Region X, in all cases the string could not be found.

Hey raydn !!!!

Totally Awesome  :D   YOU are truly "The Man"   B)

This is a great leap forward ... I just got the sequel to Mashed a great little racer called Mashed Fully Loaded and it was only 480i much to my disappointment.... well no longer as after running your hex change it is now 480p.

But the real buzz for me was finding it also works on Stacey Jones Rugby League !!!!!!     Hell I even wrote to the product manager here in New Zealand a year ago who told me there was no way it could be easily edited to work in 480p because of the way they used the video buffer ... what kind of bullshit is that ???  It totally works and I really couldn't believe it.

Anyway mega kudos & cheers to you m8  :beer:

ps. Stacey Jones Rugby League is known as NRL Rugby League in aussie and I think Superleague in UK/Europe.  You also need to run the acl patch via dvd2xbox to get it working in ntsc mode and from harddrive then just do the hex change via your patch and it works perfectly :)

Thought I'd try it with 'Star Wars Republic Commando' seeing it only plays in 480i when you've got Widescreen enabled in the dash but unfortunately it didn't find the string.

that set video mode patcher is great...

do you think you could devise a generic patcher to get games to utilize 128MB ram? I remember seeing a few people talk about hex editing default.xbe for 128MB.... It would make the RAM upgrade totally worth while  beerchug.gif
