480p is nothing to get excited about or to differentiate a product on the Xbox platform.  However, lack of 480p support is certainly a reason to malign one and it's nice to know ahead of time that it's covered after the recent Manhunt and Hitman debacle.

i would say uhhh... dont expect doom 3 to be released for xbox... on top of that if it ever did    (which it wont it wouldnt be worth it) it woudl suck ass becaus ethe xbox isnt powerful enough to handle those fx.... ait will be just like any other FPS

where have you been?? it is being released for the xbox.
check the link above. and this would be good for those that cannot run it on there pcs.

Agreed.  While supporting 480p is nice, is also the norm and expected.  Now if it were 720p, then there would be a reason to get excited about.

1080i would also be nice. But, who says no one could hack the game to provide new resolutions.

Hell, even if it was that easy it's not like Xbox could run it.  This is why most games are not HD and out of the small batch of 720p games only a few do 1080i.  Not enough processor even if the resolution was already in the game.

Forgetting the processor, the memory available is the big problem.

The texture caches alone would depleat everything in the xbox.

That's why my PC's Video card has 256Megs of RAM which is insufficient for some programs already.

Some wide screen sets do a better job than others at adjusting the narrow aspect video.

I have a Panasonic Projection set that does very well with one mode.

I don't know how to describe the effect exactly, but it is as if the only the sides are stretched a bit to fit the screen.

This works rather well when enabled, although it produces a really weird effect for things like tickers. They look like they are moving INTO the set as they transverse the center...

However Splinter Cell and other non-widescreen games look pretty good, abeit not perfect... Widescreen support is always far better.

Yeah, except start saving NOW for the video cards you will need to run it! (heh)

And yes I'll be first in line for the PC version and the 300 terraflop video adapter.
