Got A New Tv. Its Doing Something Weird.
« on: March 15, 2004, 05:09:00 AM »

Yada.. yada.. yada.. I got a brand new Philips 36" flat tube tv.
It was doing fine for the first week.

One day, i let the evox screensaver run for a bit and when I came back there where light horizontal streaks bouncin around the screen. Nothing would make them go away. I unplugged the tv for about 10 minutes, I plugged it back in and the picture was fine. I booted my xbox. I noticed that the flubber intro started for a split second, then the screen flashes blue for a split second, then flubber comes back but so does the horizontal mess.

Ive found that i can fix this by going to my ms dash and switching the video mode back and forth from widescreen to normal a couple of times. Then its fine until I i turn off the xbox and tuen it back on. Thats when it glitches again.

I have noticed my dreamcast does it too but not to the extent the xbox does.

Im using the factory MS A/v cables.

Anyone have any insight into my problem?

Thanks!

It seems that whenever a device plugged into the a/v inputs on the tv is turned on, it appears that the tv goes through a quick process where it looks like its trying to find the correct refresh rate or resoultion or something. Thats when it glitches. If I unplug and re-connect the device from the video input a couple of times, it clears up.

Blech!
