What crack have you been smoking?

All my emulators run in at least 480p, some also give you the option for 720p and 1080i.

DVD playback by default does NOT run in progressive, you have to patch either the dashboard (only possible on older versions) or DVDX, whichever you use.

Andrea - Make sure all the HD video options are set to YES under your Xbox dashboard, then you shouldn't have a problem selecting the other resolutions from within the emulators. Oh and you must have a HDAV pack if you don't already.

The only way you can get 720p is with either a component connection, or a VGA transcoder (which essentially uses the component signal)

You cannot do it with RGB Scart, the bandwidth isn't high enough to handle the extra information.

Advanced AV pack gives you an S-video output with optical 5.1 sound output

High Definition AV pack gives Component output with optical 5.1 sound output
