No Video, No Sound, Just Flashing Eject

if the only problem is the videomode you should be able to use the videomode switchdisc or configmagic to blind-restore your settings.

if the eeprom got corrupted in the process you'll need to use another method.
you have a backup of your eeprom?

you could use the new integrated eeprom function of xbtool to make a bios with an integrated eeprom (must be yours if the hdd is locked) to boot the xbox and then use something like configmagic to replace your eeprom.

or you could use the patched cromwell to flash the eeprom.

you would need to be able to flash your chip for this so an external programmer is advised.

the eeprom is a chip that sits on the motherboard.
http://web.mit.edu/b...romlocation.jpg

it contains some essential data for the xbox to boot like:
-xbox version
-nic mac adres
- xbox serial #
-hdd unlock code
- videomode
- online key
- DVD kit zone
...

If this get corrupted the xbox will not be able to boot.

now, to get the data from the eeprom you would need to use something like evox (backup option), configmagic,..
or you could use a programmer to extract the data directly from the chip.

so to get the xbox booted you need to re-place the data on the eeprom (if it got corrupted) using the patched cromwell (see the link in my previous post) or you would need to take away the need for the eeprom by booting your xbox with a bios that has an embedded eeprom.

so as i said before, the eeprom contains the hdd unlock code so if you are trying to rescue your xbox wich has a locked hdd you would need to use a backup of your own eeprom. if the hdd is unlocked you can just flash any eeprom (do mind the xbox version!) and get it to boot.

hi, I'm having a very similar problem, but my dvd-drive won't open!  I don't remember changing any video settings either.  I've searched around a bit and have seen people with similar problems, but their solution was to use the enigmah video switcher, but I cannot try that since my drive won't open.  Is there any other method I can try that doesn't require the dvd-drive?

here's a link to my thread I started in the Evox forum for more details to try and figure out the problem

thanks in advance for any possible help you may have!

QUOTE (MotoX3style @ Feb 27 2004, 02:20 AM)
Ok, unfortunately for my stupid ass, I think I locked my hard drive, and I doubt I have a copy of my eeprom with the current hard drive key. I do however have my original xbox hd that hasn't been touched (I swapped HD's a day after I got my chip). It has Evox on it and I made a backup of the eeprom & everything else.

Could I flash the old eeprom with the old HD and get my system to boot so I can boot the video switcher? I bet that was a dumb question, hehe.

ok, nevermind that. How would I go about using a BIOS with an embedded eeprom to boot my xbox? I understand you're not going to tell me how to get it, but what would I do after I find one. Would I have to somehow modify the BIOS's embedded eeprom to work with my particular xbox?

I thank you again for all of your help, I really do appreciate it, unlike some other people who take it for granted. If there's anything I can do to help you out at all, just let me know.

well you need to patch a bios (currently evolutionX M7 and xecuter2 4981 are supported) with xbtool wich you can find here: http://home.alltel.n...shd/xbtool.html (get the lates beta: 1.0.19.b2).

place your old eeprom in the "\Patch Data" folder (should be named eeprom.bin), open you bios file with xbtool, tick the "Embed eeprom" checkbox and save the bios image.

then just flash your mod with the bios and it should boot with the old eeprom.

do note that v1 and version >1.1 eeprom/xbox don't mix.

once the xbox is booted you could try extracting/changing the original eeprom with configmagic. as this will go directly to the hardware eeprom, not the embedded one.
