What Cables Do I Need?
« on: February 11, 2004, 01:48:00 PM »

MS's XBOX HD AV Kit works fine on my HDTV, don't waste money on one of those "monster" cables.  Optical audio is overrated, but if his heart is set, he can find optical audio cables at any best buy or major electronics store.

This is the one that I use:

Works well. I find using the optical increases the sound quality a lot.

If you are after the best Xbox connection you should read the pinned thread at the top.  There are indepth opinions and comparisons on the Monster, MS, and the MS pack with upgraded higher-end cables (there is no easy custom cable option for the xbox - you are wedded to one of the sponsored 'packs').  In short, if you have a large screen HDTV you will get the best results with the Monster HD pack.  As far as optical audio being overrated - it's essential if you want dolby digital 5.1 on the xbox.
