Maybe your reciver only supports Dolby Surround DTS is only used in movies anyway I think. Maybe I'm wrong I got all the options in the dash (DTS and so on).

It sounds like your 3rd-party cable is not working correctly.  The cable internally connects pins on the Xbox A/V connector which tells it which options to display in the dashboard.

Beg, borrow, or steal an official Advanced or Hi-Def A/V pack and try again.

Stupid question: Are you using the optical cable to connect the XBox to your receiver? You need to use the optical cable for 5.1 output.

OK, see i dont understand why i dont have those options in my MS Dashboard. I never had them. My reciever always worked with my dvd player which had 5.1 and dts capability. I am also using a monster optical cable and regular dolby surround is coming through. What did you do to get those audio options on your dashboard??

So wait, if i just do the mod, can i bypass the whole $50 MS adapter thing? And after i do the mod, the digital and DTS options should just magically appear in my dashboard?? how does that work?

You may need to update your dashboard. My brother got a new xbox for christmas and when I hooked up the advance av pack there was no option for DD or DTS. Plug er in to Xbox Live and Bingo! downloading update. And he's now enjoying games in DD 5.1.

ok, look at this

see how the #18 is a ground that you're supposed to solder/tape to metal?

well, you can ALSO ground the #5 wire straight from the mobo to some metal, so just solder that one wire, #3, to your coaxial connection and run the other ones from the mobo to some metal.

then go and select dolby surround in your menu, and it should go to another menu that allows you to enable/disable dts and DD

hope i helped

if you keep those 2 wires grounded, it should stay in the 5.1 mode
