Broken Xbox?
« on: January 24, 2004, 06:15:00 PM »

Ive never seen this before or heard of it.
Here goes..

My friend sold me a 'broken' xbox/ He said there was no video but could hear it start up. The first thing I was gonna check is maybe someone switched it to PAL with XBMP (ive fixed them before) So when I turn it on, it does like he says, no video but you can here it boot up.

Then, I get a solid red eject led. I cant really figure it out, it wont boot anything!
Ive even tried a new HDD since I thought maybe this one went bad. I cant even get an error msg, since I cant see anything ;(

Is it toast? MCPX fried or something?

Oh yeah, its TSOP flashed, but I disabled the jumpers, so I know it has x2 4977

QUOTE (AsiaMobile @ Jan 25 2004, 02:31 PM)
Try resoldering or reflowing the MCPX, if that still doesnt work reflow/resolder the vid encoder, if that doesnt work reflow/resolder both video BGA chips.  THis works 9 out of 10 times on no video mobos that ived worked on.  If not i guess just try replacing the MCPX

laugh.gif 99.5% of members here wouldn't be able to do that.  Myself included.
