Rf Cable Into Rf Television

so ive decided to save up for a new tv but in the meantime im going to use the spare tv in the guest room. the spare tv is a rf tv, i bought a cable for rf connection but no pic is showing up on the screen, when i turn to the right channel, for a split second i can see the ms dashboard in blur then it comes off, whats wrong, please help me, thanks
