Horizontal Hold Problem

Hey guys and gals

I received my buddies backup of Burn-Out 2 file from another box via FTP, and it worked playing from the HD.  
I later heard from my buddy that his version had horizontal lines across the screen almost like a horizontal hold problem....about 2 in a screen height.
( I should add that his box is a version 1.3 with an AppleX5.  I am using a version 1.2 with an AppleX3.  
Today, I transferred my file to another box and Low and behold, the same thing!  (Another AppleXV)
Why do you suppose these guys have the problem??  Is it chip install.....video or what?  The boxes play all the other games no problem.

I really don't care about their boxes...don't get me wrong.  I mean my game works.  But what do you think is the issue?
