Find out what resolutions your tv can handle (ex., 480p, 1080i, and/or 720p) and set those resolutions in the MS Dashboard. The dash will remain in 480i unless you hack it, but setting those in the dashboard will tell the Xbox what resolutions is available when playing games and such.
