720p (1280x720) and 1080i ( 1920x1080) is not a stardand resolution for VGA monitor, so the monitor cannot display proper information for it.

Ok that sounds reasonable, so how about:

Does the vd-z3 convert arbitrary progressive signals into the equivalent RGB with the right HV timings, or does it only support the main ones like 480/720p and 1080i?  Are there any decent specs and documentation online for this thing?  You'd think the manufacturer would be pimping its features, it's sad to see consumers doing all the work.
