I have a hitachi tv hdtv that has the 1080i and 540p, and the 400's on a seperate slot.
im using a modded xbox, if i got the monster cables would it work?
im using evox, how would i change the setting to use the cables? on the tv, or on the xbox?

Your television's component inputs accept 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i (of course they use an internal system to scale everything to display either 540p or 1080i).  Just buy the 400x and plug in the component video cables to one of your component inputs (make sure it's not one that only accepts 480i/480p if that set has one and you intend to use 720p and 1080i games which are few and far between).  If you aren't using the x100 optical cable and adapter just use the audio cables on the 400x and put those into your audio inputs.  Lot of people use the 400x on Hitachi RPTVs, they are very high quality and a nice choice for Xbox since they upscale 720p to 1080i.

it works on the 480i/480p jacks, but when i put them in the 1080i jack, its like off center and its 1/2 viewable and there are lines visable on the screen.

I'm not the best person for discussing the differences between your Hitachi component inputs.  It sounds like you have an input that will use 1080i but not accept 480i/480p.  I wasn't aware Hitachi made its sets that way.

You might post on this forum (AVS Forum / Home Theater Gaming) http://www.avsforum....p?s=&forumid=94

Several people here use Hitachi RPTVs with their Xboxs and can likely point you in the right direction for your set.  I'm not aware of any of them having this issue and not being able to use the same connection for 480i, 480o, 1080i (and upscaled 720p).  Maybe there is something unique about your model.

I figured it out, i never actually went out of the xbox shell screen where it has the settings on what my TV has. I guess i just needed to reboot the xbox, now it works perfect off games, and on.
