There is a DVI xbox cable for the Japanese Xbox.  Not sure if it will work on North American Xboxes.

Ciao,

I doubt it.  www.lik-sang.com doesn't list such a product.  mad.gif

Dvi Cable? Component to DVI?
« Reply #16 on: January 26, 2005, 01:36:00 PM »

(reason being, component still converts the digital HD signal to analog then back to digital; with DVI, it's an unfiltered process).

if that is true then for me that great. dvi/hdmi cable should improve PQ alot .

oc.uk have the screen for sale as well http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/lcd_tv.html

As spillage said you'd need support for DVI at the graphics chip level, which as far as I know was not built into the XBOX so this will never happen.

As for analog DVI that wouldn't work either as most (all?) HDTVs only support DVI-D (digital only) input and not DVI-A or DVI-I.  Lastly analog over DVI is just VGA, which you can get with some 3rd party cables.

I expect the XBOX 2 and PS3 to support DVI out of the box.

BTW here's the only way I know of getting an XBOX to do DVI.  It's a $300 adapter box though:

If the display you have supports the resolutions you want in the analogue domain, this diagram will enable you to make an VGA to DVI lead. It does NOT convert anything it is simply an interface.

The least expensive adapter I know of that converts component to DVI is the DVDO iScan HD and it MSRPs at $1,200 USD.

You can find a VGA to DVI adapter for around $300.

No, those only extract the analog VGA (DVI-A) signal included in DVI-I.  To go the other way, analog to digital, you need a cpu processor to digitize the analog signal in real time to DVI-D.

i have a vga to dvi cable, in which case i can use a vga switcher that outputs to a vga cable(not HD or anything just to use my pc monitor to play xbox on) but has composite and svid input so i can use the the M$ svid cable to the switcher and the switchers vga out with my vga/dvi cable but damn that to many adapters, im looking to connect the M$ HD pack straight to a dvi connector to go to my set so i get the least interferience

basically i have a projector tha has composite, svid and dvi

but my have the M$ HD pack and need to get an component to DVI adapter

i hope that shit aint as expensive as MR ED says, i feel if i use this VGA switcher with svid to vga to dvi everything will look like shit, i havent tried it yet as my vga switcher is burried in a box somewhere but i just asuumed it would look like ass

vga to dvi cable

What you have is a VGA to DVI-I cable.  Your monitor probably has a DVI-I plug which should work, but some monitors have a DVI-D plug, in which case that wouldn't work.

would this work?

Xbox -> Component male(hd pack) -> "female-female component (thingy)*" -> (male)Component-VGA(adapter) ->VGA-DVI(adapter)?

To my tv (philips 32PF5320/10) I got a DVI-VGA adapter .
This part was missing so I dont know ecatly how it loks, but I asume the Dvi side is male and the vga part is female. I will have to go back to the store) and VGA to YPbPr-Cinch cable**.

Sins I got a simple DVI-VGA adapter I asume the TV can handle analog signal.

I know it probobly would be easier to build a VGA cable, but now I found a component cable at link-sang for $12 ink shipping so I would like to try this first.

* can anyone find one of these?
** why is these male? I´m I supposed to use the DVI as an out-port?

edit: I have a DVD-I(HD/PC) port on the LCD

If you really have a DVI-I and not a DVI-D connector on your monitor and the component to VGA adapter works (I've never seen one) I guess this might work.
