Ok, so if I get the HDAV pack and cables I can run my Xbox (chip off) and get HD on my HDTV monitor (16:9) if the game supports it.

Was that a question?

Does the DVD movie playback perform better with the HDAV pack?

A little

...is it similar to progressive scan on a normal DVD

no, no progressive scan.  There are patchers though that supposedly will add progressive scan.

or just better quality than RCA?

yeah.

Ok, what if I have the chip turned ON?

well, what if you do?
QUOTE
Will my games play in HDTV mode?
Sure, the ones that support HDTV mode.  It should remember whatever settings you last made with the MS Dash.
QUOTE
Will my backed up game play any different than putting the disk in (still with chip ON)?

Well if they support HDTV, they will play in HDTV.  Not sure what you mean by different.  Why would they?
QUOTE
Finally, what about DVD playback...will it change chip on vs. chip off?

Well it depends on how you are playing the DVDs back, but if I understand what you are asking, the answer is no, it will not change.

My sig has a link to 480p dash and dvd altering.  Read the whole thread - it works for both regular and both live dashes.

I think my setup is listed below  unsure.gif

Do some more research on the subject, then come back with some questions.
