i didnt read your post as im in a little hurry but satellite uploads at slow speeds so if your talking about satellite for internet its not a very good option as it make gaming almost impossible and as bad as normal dial-up.

I recieve my HDTV programing thru sat and I love it.  Mainly for the quality of the audio and video.  I can't explain "technically" but I've always gotten better picture and sound with Sat than with cable (and im reffering to analog).  the HD is off the chains.  the ONLY downside I have experienced is the occational rain fade from only the HEAVIEST cloud cover...but since I have gotten the 3 lmb sat ( a requirement for HDTV) I've only gotten rain fade once in the last 8 months.

All those cable commercials really make sat sound bad but hey I don't care I'll take sat over  cable any day.   I have 5 recievers and paid good money for them... and I haven't regreted it yet.

boy, this is just one big opinion isn't it...well I love it...to each his own.

The best way to receive the highest resolution HDTV is to get a large (old fashioned) antenna and put it on the roof of your house for over the air broadcasts.

Oh, and it's free (except for the initial cost of the antenna).

Don't forget those wonderful letters of pending lawsuits which DTV is sending to a large portion of their subscribers.

Got one myself for no reason.... I have no dish, no Sat Dish, nothing nada.

Oh, yes I once purchased a Mod chip from Easybuy....

i have hdtv (sony 36" wega not xbr) and ive used direct tv for about 4 years now (since way before end of H cards, OPJOSE prolly knows what  i mean if he had letter from dtv, btw i got no letter coz i Never been a sub :)emulators ruled!)
and dtv regular is kinda boxy sometimes like a divx on the comp, not bad, but in the shadows and blacks it kinda loses detail and goes that greenbalck color like a divx, and fire and the like u can definetly see the boxies, when i got the HDTV sat box about a year ago (old rca DTC100) the hidef shit looks AMAZING, but with the better tv the regualr broadcast looks worse to me, like the tv is so good it shows more defects in the signal (artifacts?), but overall the whole setup is WAY better than anything cable can offer, even in their hi-def package...xbox in hi-def is awesome (even games that aren't hi-def look alot better patched to progressive scan)

so i guess my opinion is that cable is for internet not tv, and dtv is good, better with hidefinition especially football, but still not worth paying for, hehehe j/k, but all u freetvers out there know what i mean!

Yeah, covenant restrictions keep me from that,

Yeah, we have that too, but apparently about 2 years ago a court ruling determined that if the antenna is the only way you can get a certain broadcast in certain format, the HOA can't stop you from putting it up.  Since our local cable only carries 2 of the 4 stations we have now broadcasting in HD I can ignore the HOA rules about visible antennas.  Of course, when I put it up, I'll probably have some neighbors hating me.  sad.gif
