that folder you're looking for should be under your c drive...
i have a v1 and i have that folder. so i dont know what you're talking about. thats where all the needed files to run the original ms dashboard are...

i cant get mine to update. I tried using live options in games. i tried to launch dashupdate.xbe. It all dumps me back to evox (and when i delete evox it dumps me to msdash unchanged). I dont have Live and dont plan to get it. I have my mod on, ethernet unplugged, the games are on the harddrive, and my harddrive is  not locked. is any of that causing the dashboard not to update?

You have to update to the Live dash to mod it.

Mine was the original dash so :

What I did was look on my Ghost Recon disk (assuming any game with live support will have it).
You should be able to ftp to your disk with EvoX to look around on it.

I found dashupdate.xbe on it (around 53 megs).

I copied dashupdate.xbe up to my pc, then down to the f-drive.
I use XBMP as a dash, so I launched it from my apps menu.

You should be able to make an entry into evox.ini for it and launch it from there.

I was brought to a green xbox style screen that said it was updating the dash, then it hung when it was trying to get on live (i'm impatient so it might have timed out after a short while if I left it).
I restarted and volia, the updated live dash was there.

The only other thing to mention is, my micro$oft dash is named xboxdash.xbe, just like it should be.

ymmv
make backups
yadda yadda

Just to clarify, is your original xbox dash named xboxdash.xbe?

mine is called xboxdash.xbe but it sounds like griffball's isnt.

you can change it by using a bios editing program. just search and youll find something.
