I was waiting for Undead to make a formal announcement on this, but heet is right, the project is dead. sad.gif

We've looked over the neXgen code, and it's a mishmash of a funky scripting language and messy C code. The problems are apparent if you are a programmer, in terms of whether it is worth working on or not.... The only thing worthwhile out of it was the 3-D models used for the UI. From MY perspective, it would have been easier to add neXgen's 3-D elements into MXM, rather than build additional functionality into neXgen. My impression from undead was that Team Assembly had come to the same conclusions about the state of the code.

As far as the source being released to the general public, it's not under my control. My vote is to release it, but I'm not even sure undead has permission either, to release it.

I hope this clears up the situation for some people. I realize many of you will demand the release of the source code, but I have to tell you that it's pointless to deluge me, undead or any member of Team Assembly with countless PMs or E-Mails. They realize people want th esource code to play with, and as I said, I'm not even sure it's up to them to release it, either.

Hopefully undead will add his 2 cents worth and give us the final word on the subject of releasing the source code to this project.

Ahh well i never saw what anyone saw in it...if you like it that much just use the MSDash hack that is out there now...or the MSDash MXM skin!

Will you be adding the 3d models to MXM then?

Also, will the latest version of neXgen ever be released to the public. I have 0.95 but according to ubergeek there is newer and better code. So releasing the latest binaries and the code would be great!

i just tried out nexgen for the first time tonight.. its pretty nice.. i'm suprised it wasn't continued... mxm could be a nice alternative to evox.. but it looks like it could take a bit more to setup?? maybe i should just not be impatient lol...

MXM will find all of your apps and games with no configuration files (and you can mess around with the config menu to change how it deals with things).

But yes, the XML files can be very complex if you want them to be (that's why I like MXM, it's either incredibly simple, or incredibly complex, depending on what you want).
