Can Backups Be Payed With A Modchip But No Dash?
« on: June 25, 2003, 05:56:00 AM »

I have a modded xbox  with evolution x on it. If I were to have a 2nd just to play backups, would evox be necessary?

I don't think it is but just asking to make sure.

The dash is needed if you want to load games onto your hard drive, otherwise, the dash isn't needed if you only play DVD-R/CD backups.

depending upon when the game was released...POST MARCH 2003...you will need to patch the game...and then burn or copy to whatever media you wish to store the info...

no you wont need a dash...its a GUI...only to make LIFE much easier.

but if youd think about it...itd save you money to buy a big hard drive and store games there cause u can buy a 120GB, for $70 to your door!  Then to waste money on dvd media each time u burn a game...plus its much easier...less time consuming...games load MUCH FASTER....all around a better idea...i still dont know why people burn to dvd media TO THIS DAY...

but ... my 2 cents...

How can i make a backup of a game, can i just copy it?  Or do i have to patch the game first?  I tried just burning it, but all that comes up is a screen that says

"this is an xbox game disc.  please put it in your xbox to start playing."

my xbox is modded with xecutor 2.1 lite and it works fine, but i just cant get a backup game to play on it. I'm using dvd-r media.

please help me

I don't know what's going on here, but there seems to be a HUGE influx of newbies here.

No offense, but when you find youself asking questions like that, you should be reading EVERY tutorial, browsing the FAQ forum, reading the pinned threads, and lastly, hanging out in the Newbie Chat forum.

Xbox discs cannot be directly copied. A Dash is needed to back these up, unless you download an image of the game you own from the internet in one of "The Usual Places"

Backing up an Xbox Disc on a PC DVD drive results in an 11MB DVD disk with the movie you saw. You'd have saved yourself a few discs had you done the research (Didn't the backup seem to be quick to you???).

Xbox games are backed up by loading a dashboard such as Media X Menu (MXM) or the old and dated Evo-X, which allows you to place a game disc in the Xbox without rebooting, while running an FTP Server....then you can back up the contents to your PC, and compose a disc there.

Follow the advice above... READ, LEARN. Lots of info here, take advantage of it.

Two Modchip-less exploits in one week will do that to a scene.  I can deal with the influx of newbs, I'm just worried about further fallout.
