« on: February 01, 2003, 11:17:00 AM »

the complete story is I had evo x on my x-ecutor 2 lite modded xbox. But i decided to try Nexgen, thought it was okay but i prefered evo x so i ftp'd it back restarted my xbox and it wouldn't load and error 16 came up. I thought to myself okay i will just put the evo x cd in but that wouldn't load as well. I have tried everything please help. I thought that i could connect my xbox hard drive to my pc and then use hard drive preparer on it but the problem is i have win98se so i cant put the drivers on. In my pc bios that recognizes it but when then when i save the settings the pc says there is an error with the xbox hard drive. Please reply and Help!! MY e-mail is [email protected] and my name on xbox-scene is cursedjoker. Help!!

Will windows xp work for that hard drive preparer, or do I need some extra software?

Have either of you tried a dummied boXplorer disc.  May help.  Next time you try homebrew betas you should probably read up on them first.

I had a problem that sounds similar, but dunno if it is the same.

I put evoX on my HDD. Then decided to use nexgen, so I switched the dashboards. After I saw the ftp part of nexgen needed a little work, I decided to use the evoX dashboard again. When I switched it back to evox, it would not load. I then loaded the original dashboard, and that wouldn't even load. The only thing that seemed to work was neXgen.

I fixed the problem, by deleting everything that is evoX and nexgen on the xbox. I then deleted the the remoteX and nexgen saves that were on the xbox. All worked fine after that.

People just need to look stuff up and get the facts. dont rush in blindly, just cuz you have a modchip, and your excited, and ruin your xbox. i made the same mistake, accidently uploading a corrupt xboxdash.xbe file, not paying attention that it was 0 kb in size. I freaked out but thankfully it was easily fixed, and i still learned my lesson. and even though im new to xbox modding, im sure that ill take it slowly and try not to do anything stupid, maybie other people should do the same.

Perhaps try the following:

- shut down xbox
- plug a new (or zero-filled) hard disk to your xbox
- boot to an evoX CD
- shut down xbox
- fit the original disk (with the problem)
- boot to an evoX CD
- repair...

...it might work.

How do i run hard drive preparer on a computer with win98se because i cant get the pc to read the xbox hard drive properly. When i put it in and then get the pc bios to read it and then restart the computer it says it has an error, but if i dont put it in the pc bios the pc doesnt read it at all. Also i dont have a file which says the hard drive password. Are all xbox hard drive passwords the same?? Help!! I dont want to have to but a new hard drive i am skint!!

sure it's not a problem with your chip.

Red and green flashing sounds like your chip is not working to me.

If you can boot backups then it's not the chip, sounds a bit funny to me.

Got any games to work on it?

Take both drives out of the xbox and see if it boots with x2 at the bottom of the logo or gives you the read/green flashing.

According to this FAQ:  http://www.xbox-scen.../errorcodes.php  Error 16 is a dashboard problem.

I think his original ms dashboard is corrupt and evox is too.

Yep. I think that will fix it.

Or use Slayer's 2.0 Auto Installer.  Should work like a charm.
