see if u can ftp into you xbox and if you can re-upload evox and your ini and delete the nexgenofterror xml file (if i remember correctly its an xml file it didn't last long enough on my box to remember other than the nightmares and cold sweats i still wake up with at night wink.gif )

Again, user, not program.. There is TONNES of information available explaining that the ftpd is buggy and will most likely corrupt all data fired thru it. Only an idiot user installs homebrew software without investigating it first.. So again, user error. If you're not prepared to gamble on the risks that come with running beta software, DON'T FUCKING RUN IT. Very simple.

Oh, and as for taking over your hdd... If deleting an xbe and xml file is too complicated for you, buy a fuckin gamecube, seriously.

HAHAHHAHA  ohmy.gif ...dude use a cd rw to boot evox back on then ftp ur evoxdash.xbe or xboxdash.xbe (evox dash) back onto your xbox and also the evox.ini file...what nexgen does and i do not know why...it messes up your evox.ini file...if you cant get evox to boot with a cd rw then take out your pc dvd rom and do the dvd rom swap and run the cd off that which will then read the evox cd...good luck and DO NOT BLAME GOOD SOFTWARE...yes it can be a crap hole right now but it will get better...

nexgen is a great dash, still needs work, but none the less its great.  learn to config the xml and always have a secondary dash.  i use evox to ftp files not nexgen, thats why i call it my secondary dash.

Didn't work.  I did every thing it said in the put a pc dvd drive in your xbox thing in the tutorials here, presuming that is the correct one, apart from the fact that I used a power cable from my PC to power the dvd rom drive.  If that is the wrong thing, please tell me, or if there are other ways to get evolution x to boot, please tell me.  If not, how in this case can I format my xbox hd when its in pc by using just the pc?  Thanx

the only downfall i really had with nexgen was the fact that it added more partians. and when i deleted a folder it didnt go away completely. plus it kept saying my hdd was full. okay im pretty much a newbie here but i had no prob taking my nexgen off and putting evox back on. if you couldnt even find the pw for it in a while i wouldnt have put it on. id say read and review things abefore you do them if you have a problem like this

It didn't create more partitions... It just listed partitions that aren't actually there (but do exist on dev boxes).. Right now the nexgen ftpd doesn't take the time to destinguish between dev or retail xbox, just lists all partitions that would be there for dev.

My guess about the hdd full.. You were trying to send to a non-existant partition.

And again, about the password... If you don't read config files and readme's *BEFORE* installing the software, you certainly don't belong in the homebrew scene.

I'm willing to bet I could code an xbe that wipes c & e & f completely clean, include a readme that says that's exactly what it's gonna do, and name the fucking thing "killmyxboxplease.xbe" and still people would come in here saying that it's a buggy piece of shit that killed their xbox for some reason.

Thing is with nexgen, it comes with no readme.  so you have to work out the password and the fact it has some very serious bugs.
