hmmm....

I dont use nexgen but it has to do something with when nexgendash is calling on the xml and not finding it or something.

Make sure all the names are correct and installed in the proper place

I used nexgen and it works fine, but unlike most people I used manual setup for all games and appz (no autoitem here).  I also finished make icons for all appz and emulators.  Only problem so far is using ftp on nexgen so I made a link to evox for transfering my new nexgen.xml and other files.

I'm using it as my primary dash.

I have all 3 dashboards on C:.  Evo-X and neXgen are linked.  No problems making changes to my XML, but some things can't be changed right now.

Here is my XML

<MENU>

<nosnow/>

<ftp inhibit="0" user="xbox" pass="xbox"/>
<http inhibit="0"/>

<item TEXT="Evolution-X" ACTION="Launch_Custom" PARAM="C:\evox.xbe"/>
<ITEM TEXT="M$ DASHBOARD" ACTION="Launch_Custom" PARAM="C:\xboxdash.xbe"/>
<item TEXT="DVD DRIVE" ACTION="Launch_Custom" PARAM="D:\default.xbe"/>

<COLOR1 R="255" G="255" B="233"/>
<COLOR2 R="255" G="255" B="255"/>
<COLOR3 R="255" G="0" B="0"/>

</MENU>

You'll notice my Search Sections is empty.  As long as your directories are named "Games" and "Apps" it will find everything.

I added the extra M$ Dashboard link because my original is dead.  I'm going to try adding a msxboxdash.xbe to C: to try and get it working.

This works, you need xboxdash.xbe and msxboxdash.xbe on C: for the neXgen link to function.

I just used boXplorer to copy xboxdash.xbe to E:, rename it msxboxdash.xbe and moved it back to C:.

Your problem may be caused by having a disc in the optical drive. this appears to cause Nexgen to either ignore its own .xml or look there for one- there's no information in the readme on this. I use nexgen as default with launcher booting before it (due to the debug setup)

Let us know if this works.

So, my nexgen.xbe boots from F.  You're saying if I put the nexgen.xml text file in C instead of F, and leave the nexgen.xbe in F then it will work?  I'll give it a try and see what happens.  If I want to have nexgen.xbe boot from C, then I'll have to reflash my bios with a C booting bios.  I haven't tried that yet, as I'm trying to leave my C virgin (because I use Live).

Yeah it worked.  I opened nexgen.xbe in Winhex to see if there was any way to change the partition that it looks in for the xml file, but I couldn't find anything.  Hopefully they'll incorporate this in future releases, so we F booters can keep C clean.

BTW, thanks for the tip, Blinx!
