Just think of all the fun shit you could have done in those extra 4 seconds it took to load.

QUOTE (dailce @ Dec 27 2002, 07:24 PM)
Just to try out nexgen, I've linked the beta version of nexgen from evox and it loads in the exact amount of time if not faster than evox.  And my Harddrive isnn't clean.  I have a 80GB 5400 RPM harddrive and 20 Games on it.

I've got a 120GB drive with about 65 games on it and it does take longer than EvoX.  Unbearably longer?  No.  But it is longer.  It would be nice to offer a nexgen cache option where you could tell it "hey, go grab all the images (and maybe tell me which programs don't have any) and stick them in a quickload directory so you don't have to search them each time".    Just an idea.  Since we're limited to 137GB (or 120GB if you don't want to waste drive space) you're probably not going to have much more than 70 games (or 100 if you want to include future apps which are small compared to games) I can't see it taking more than a minute to boot... and with a souped up system like that, who cares...  most computers aren't done booting in 1 minute (I'm sure disagreements will fly about that as well... I'm sure some of you out there DO boot in well under a minute...).  If nexgen was that cool, (and if you could exit BACK to it without rebooting, avoiding the 1 minute load between each game) then it wouldn't be a big deal.
