Nexgen Suggestions!
« on: December 25, 2002, 01:14:00 AM »

Well i have a few.

1. Fix all the bugs lol.. duh hehe (i didnt notice any, but im sure there are)
2. Make the config. understandable, i added a few games to the MAIN SCREEN, but how do you add the games/apps in the storage section of the dash.?
3. Make DVDx2.0 Intergrated
4. add all the features as the MS dash. like change Clock/Lang/Audio/Video/Parental Control/Auto Off.
5. Record a CD/DVD music to HD
6. Under sytem INFO, show what Bios you have
7. Change and disable music (not just change music, but able to disable)
8. Change the Volumes on Music and menus.

I know thats alot to ask, but hey theres pretty good suggestions huh? (i read around and i saw kinda the same suggestions)

GREAT DASH ALREADY! AND ITS A BETA.. not many betas of anything can i say good! but this is. hehe

Also wierd Bug

1. Load up Nexgen
2. Go to Msdashboard (w/ link)
3. Then do IRG (to go back to nexgen)
4. Eject Tray (under settings)
5. The xbox reboots....

if i just go to nexgen and dont go to MS dash the tray eject works fine... only if i got to ms dash in between.. wierd.

This happened with my EvoX dash.

When you load say xbox media player from the dash, then go back to the dash and press the eject button my xbox restarts.

Also like to add [if there isn't this feature already in it] a temperature info bar.

I totally agree with regulater7's #4 suggestion.  Just add all the msdash features, especially changing system settings.  Why even bother being able to go back to your msdash, just have everything available under 1 dashboard.   btw this nexgen dash is looking good!

These are some good suggestions but heres mine:

Everyone knows how you can pick skins on evox ... like wallpaper in windows ....

but how about a theme menu so that you can different themes (all in 3d) like you might if you had Windows Plus pack installed...

so say you have a christmas theme with 3D snow flakes flying, (add snow on top of the menus and rotating thing and so on, say have a themed screen saver, and christmas music)

another say a windows theme....with little windows logos and windows XP style look.

another say a fire theme (again 3d fire) and when you select something and it flies onto the sub menu it has flying flames for the animation and so on... and say maybe 3d flames in place of the 3d net in the back ground

the possibilities are endless and if a method was given to the public to make their own themes you could have as much variety as there are winamp skins...

i know it wouldnt be easy but these guys are skilled programmers and something like this would be so cool.

Jiggaman, i understand and its a good suggestion, but the dash was ment to look like msdash, so i doubt they will implement diff themes, but still a very good idea.!

I think I ran into a bug, maybe someone can test??

ok I have evox, dvd-x and disc launchers on my main menu, I turned off sound too.
I tried booting the xbox with a DVD movie inside (so see if it goes straight to DVD-X) and the menu came up with the 3 default options and that music.

I tried again... same thing

so I took the DVD out, rebooted and it was fine again.

booting with DVD movie inside must ignore the xml or something (but i'm pretty stupid)

improvements?
it's a small one but I hope one day the sounds will be balanced... games menu is a lot loader than other menus... xbox dash is just right.

loving neXgen though, very cool

i think it'd be cool if you could play music that was ripped with the xbox dash and other folders, and they could play in the background while you are ftp'ing and such.

some of the bug/issues you guys listed are fixed in v.91c.

i think everyone knows this is an early release. it even says in the nfo that everything isnt implemented in this release so expect much more in the future, especially with all this great feedback.

thanks guys,
