Using Zipped Skins?
« on: February 20, 2006, 12:36:00 AM »

I've tried several times to use zipped skins, but I cant get the dash to recognize them?  Did I misunderstand?  I thought you could have a skin in .zip format either in the root directory [with the xbe] or in the skins folder?

If so, maybe some suggestions about what I may be doing wrong?  Its not even recognizing the zipped skin that came with the new release?

I havn't tried this but they still need to be in their own subfolder of the skins directory and the skin.xml files needs to not be in a subfolder inside the zip (lots of people zip them up wrong)

So its like this
<SkinDir>\<SkinFolder>\<SkinZipFile.zip>

don't know if there is an easier way but the way I do it is, I transfer the zipped skin to my PC unpack it, and transfer it back to the skins folder...I use flashFXP....

When you get the latest versions of UX from xbins, it comes with a zipped skin called MetallicAtmosphere.zip. In the rar that you download, it is in the same directory as the xbe, but I have also tried placing the zip file in the skins folder.  It is zipped like you suggested jezz...with the skin.xml directly within the archive.  No biggie...i was just curious if I was the only one who couldnt get it to work.

thx!
