Making Wmv Play
« on: January 19, 2005, 06:41:00 PM »

I'm trying to make a skin for unleashX and when I get my movies made and I upload them to my xbox, it tells me that they are curpt or damaged. Dose anyone one know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using MS Media maker to make the wmv. any ideas.

Well if you mean Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP its most probably because if you've update Media Player or Movie maker or put on service pack 2 then its encodeing it into wmv version 9 which UnleashX will not recognize.   You need to make them wmv version 8 files.  I suggest you go to MS's site and download Windows Media Encoder its free and in the compression tab of the properties button hit the edit button and change Video Codec to Windows media version 8

I would like to do this too.

I can change the video codec to wm8 ok, but the only audio option is wm9 or uncompressed. How do you get wm8 audio ?

well this has never been answered has it..and I've done about 20 searches and installed countless different software utilities and all sorts of wmv8 utilities and such all to convert avi's/wmv9 to wmv 8.

Well if you have Windows XP, SP2, WMP10...forget it...at least the sound.!
It's kinda frustrating..I'd really like if the wmv9 codec could somehow be utilized by UX...I know I'd do plenty of skins then...

what has Ben Jeremy said about 9????

The encoder I mentioned above will work fine the audio can still be in wma9 format but the video needs to be in wmv8 format as for what Ben Jeremy says he also said that wmv9 support is too hard.  At least last time I looked
