Screen Savers
« on: January 14, 2005, 08:35:00 AM »

Hello! I saw the UX Logo Screen Saver, it ROCKS!! However I thought I remembered someone talking about an aquarium screen saver..  Or that they were working on it.. Does anyone have one of these? Or know where I could find one? I have looked and could not find one..

Thanks for the help!

Everyone looked because you made your thread title so broad they have to look inside to see what you want    and then when the are not interested or don't have an answer they don't post anything

Search in the UnleashX forum about this. It has been answered a lot.  ;)

If you must have one at all costs, purchase THIS and either use the 30-second loop, or the 3-minute loop video files.

This should be superb quality, as it was designed to be played in HDTV.

Anyone who picks this up, please let me know.

OK search BestBuy.com for "roku" and you'll see the Aquarium Art pack.

Here is the manufacturer's description.

I'm actually considering using a BestBuy gift card for it, just for curiousity's sake.

Wow is all I can say. So did you burn the cd using an xiso because if you don't I am pretty sure that UnleashX cannot read the disk. Download Craxtion and use it to make an xiso and then burn the xiso to a cd-r (if your xbox can read those) or burn it to a dvd. Then insert the disc into your xbox and go into the file manger and copy the screensaver to your C drive somewhere and then go into system and settings and system and scroll down to screensaver stuff. Under screensaver text put in the path to the screensaver. So if the screensaver is called screensaver_blue.xmv and it is on your c drive you would put in
CODE
C:\screensaver_blue.xmv
under the screen saver text place. Then you may need to reboot your xbox in order for it to work. If that does not work you are on crack or have some problem. But if you somehow can't get that to work search Google for an FTP Client and download it and then look under your xbox network settings for your xbox's ip. Then put that number in under the server address for the ftp client and put the username and password as xbox. It should connect and you can just drag the file over and say transfer or something similar. Once you have that done follow the thing above about screensaver text. Ahhh that took a while you better get this to work. Next time try searching.

So will unleashx play an MPG file as the screen saver? Or will I have to convert it to something else?

I wonder, if there is a site available that allows us to download screensavers for UnleashX. I would love to have one, but I can't find them.

You will need to convert it to wmv 8. Search or look in the first couple of pages of the UnleashX skin sub-forum about wmv 8 encoding or video encoding.

OK, I picked up that Roku Aquarium pack, and the MPEG video is directly playable in Xbox Media Center.  It is a little sluggish, but then again, it's in HDTV 1280x768.

There are two clips: a 30-second clip, and a 3-minute clip.  They both loop perfectly and would make a great screensaver.  There are also "day to night" clips so these could be joined to prevent screen burn-in.

I couldn't get TMPGEnc or Windows Media Encoder to recognize the file, in fact the only PC app I could get to play it was VLC Media Player (but it plays smooth as silk on a P4).

As soon as I can figure out how to convert to XMV or downsample and convert, I'll post my progress.  Anyone who knows what Codec or codec pack I'd need to install, please let me know.
