It's working better now but now sometimes it is losing the menu. It just disappears sometimes and you have to restart UXA and click on like free menu and then go back to bound menu in order for it to show up again. Also I cannot seem to get the Menu_Backcolor to work. It doesn't matter what opacity it's set to it just doesn't work. Every other setting for the menu seems to work alright. I must just be dumb.  dry.gif   laugh.gif

Hi Hecto,

It's working better. No crashes on save anymore.
But it sometimes "forgets" custom fonts after a save reverting them to Square_10.

That's the only problem I see on normal use. That and the fact that you should write an error catcher/handler to avoid crashes when something unattended happens (for example, leaving a numerical input empty causes exceptions that could be handled easily).

Otherwise this app rocks !! Thank you again for developing such a great app.

Apart from these details, here are improvements that could make UXA even better:
- Allowing multiple selections with alignment possibilities (a bit like in a resource editor) ; for example, it would be possible to select two or more text objects and a right click would bring a context menu offering the possibility to align left or right or make same size or same width.

- Offering the possibility to view and enter directly colors in hex format (like in the UX XML format) and not just in RGB format (I know it would certainly require some color picker component rather than using the default Windows integrated one).

- Add some keyboard shortcuts for basic features (like Ctrl+S for Save UXA, very handy for quick in progress saves).

Thanks again for your great work Hecto  beerchug.gif

The menu cant just disapear, it was either not drawn, or it got moved behing another image or shape. Again, I need details. How did you open that skin? uxa project or did you import the skin?

Well the menu is working better now. I don't know what it/I was doing earlier.  laugh.gif  It was most likely me but have you checked out the Menu_Backcolor. I am still having problems with that. It shows up in the UXA "preview window" but when i upload it to my box using UXA's ftp feature it doesn't give a menu background color but I know it uploaded that copy because I change other stuff so I can tell.

How are you opening the file, is it a uxa project or unzipped project?

If the person ignores the message box that says "YOU MUST ENTER A VALUE BETWEEN>>>>AND>>>" then they got issues.  blink.gif  i cannot enter a default value for them. The message box is the error catcher. I guess I could pop a message when saving/exporting saying "So and so box must contain a numerical value" similar to how i do it if you leave the skin "untitled" or dont enter an author name and then not save the project till its fixed. Thats do-able.

- Allowing multiple selections with alignment possibilities (a bit like in a resource editor) ; for example, it would be possible to select two or more text objects and a right click would bring a context menu offering the possibility to align left or right or make same size or same width.
This was planned from the begining, but to do what your asking is to have hundreds of even handlers, 5 for each item(mouse down, mouse enter, mouse move, mouse leave, button click), right now all text, images, shapes, menu items share the same 5 event handlers. In the beginning stages, I attempted to code it so I can select several items and drag/edit them all. again, It was just too much to code. I dont think I will ever be able to do this. Trust me, I wish I could.

- Offering the possibility to view and enter directly colors in hex format (like in the UX XML format) and not just in RGB format (I know it would certainly require some color picker component rather than using the default Windows integrated one).
I wanted to keep UXA simple, so beginners could use it. Not soo complicated that they just give up. (I gave up on mxm skinner 5) So I attempted to re-invent the way people skinned for UX, the average user doesnt even know what RGB, HEX colors are, or what x, y co-ordinates are. The old ux skinners required all this stuff. To be honest, its not needed. Some users, like yourself, are just used to doing it that way, cuz thats the way its always been done. Im sorry, but I will not allow the user to add a "HEX" color. Im trying to keep it simple, yet powerfull.

- Add some keyboard shortcuts for basic features (like Ctrl+S for Save UXA, very handy for quick in progress saves).
This is sumthing that doesnt require a re-write. I will definatly put this on the "to-do" list.

I experienced that problem myself. I thought I fixed it. I will take a look.

EDIT>> I will still go over the menu code. It may be intermittant. Depending how you opend it or save it. I think I know where to look.

It's a UXA project.
I use a custom font (.xpr taken from the disk) that I first add to my project.
Then I save it. It works.
Finally I re-open the same UXA project, and re-save it (with or wthout changing anything else), always as an UXA project.
=> The fonts are back to Square_10

I saw another error:
It seems that UXA is not keeping the Globe, Orb and Fog informations in a UXA project. Just create a new UXA from scratch, check Use Globe, Use Orb and Use Fog and save your UXA file (I always use the Save as UXA option).
Exit UXA, and relaunch it. On the welcome screen select your project.
=> it opens with Use Globe, Use Orb and Use Fog unchecked (XML is consistent, no globe, orr or fog).

Don't hesitate if you need more testing, I have some time wink.gif

I have a other request:

Would it be possible to have the Bring to Front/Sent to Back menu in the Image Layers and Shape Layers areas. It would make layer manipulation easier.

Thanks

I like this request. Hell yeah I will add it.

The fonts are back to Square_10
Part of the UXA reset is to set the fonts to sqaure 10. The Importer is then  supposed to populate that info. Im working on this now. I noticed that if I clicked on menu font then to infofont a couple of times, it would display the correct custom xpr font. Im about done with that. I just also added the shortcuts.

=> it opens with Use Globe, Use Orb and Use Fog unchecked (XML is consistent, no globe, orr or fog).
UXA will not write those values if you checked the option. Why? cuz the default value is true in UnleashX, so if you dont want them, then it will write the tag, but only to show as "False". UnleashX himself told me to do this, it makes the skin boot faster.
I did fix the bug, so it will now read those values correctly.

Im not sure im going to have an official/unoffical webpage anymore. At first I thought I would, but Im not sure anymore. To be honest, its alot of work, and im not up to it. Its just easier to use this thread and update a few sites. UXA isnt all that big of a deal to create its own webpage. I dont even think that many people even tried it or care for it. Also, Im not about taking credit for stuff, as long as I know I coded it, its all good.

Anyways, I think I fixed all bugs. The shortcuts work great. I will map out ther rest later. get the update at xbox-skins

Is it writing the element in the skin.xml?

EDIT>>This one is weird. It writes the tags correctly, but once loaded to the xbox they dont show up.
