Xbox Won't Boot
« on: June 28, 2003, 02:58:00 PM »

When I start the xbox it just freezes and some sound comes from the HDD. But even when i try to reboot with a disc in it wont start. I have tried Slayers Auto Installer and Superdisc. None of them boot. The sounds from the HDD could be that it's on it's way to crash, and 2 times it has started to load MXM (my Dash), but just freezes.

I was thinking maybe the chip lost a wire or something so it wont read from the HDD or copied discs... I have a Xecuter 2 Lite.

What do you think?

TIA

Should I format it in Windows with the PC and then put in the box and format it again with Slayers Auto Installer? Will de space be enough just for the most important appz?

Can I plug the crashed HDD in the PC and back up from there? How will the partitions show up, cuz I already have C there...

it's probably not the hard drive if it gets to the dash - sounds like you've got corrupted files...  400 megs is too small for the xbox, your data won't fit...and you can't format the drive in windows - hope you backed up your system....

Nope I haven't.... But I was think just evox on the 400 MB HDD? Isn't that possible. I need to ftp back some files for backup. Is there any way to correct these files by putting in the HDD in the PC?

different file system, you won't be able to access it in a pc.  and  your box needs more than 400 megs of drivespace...

When I started the xbox this time the LED was flashing Red and green.

GREEN/RED Flashing:
Probably a bad chip or bad image.

That explanation in a tutorial.

It also said error 09 on the screen. That was given as a HDD problem. this explanation in another tutorial:

9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug).

What does that mean?

Phew I got it to work. I just opened the box and took out the cables for the HDD. Putted them back and started. Everything worked fine.... Weird, guess it's just that M$ developed it....
