nevermind the last part about the softmod......i figured it out

but i still need help on the other stuff!
Is it possible to get xbox games on my hard drive without using the xbox's dvd drive?

sorry dude but no you cannot. the reason is because xbox games are written with bad secters that cannot be read or duplicated by any dvd drive that you can get ahold of. some games will read in your pc, but it will be in a dvd movie format because dome games are dual layer and one side is the movie of the game, and the other side is the real game. a normal dvd reader cant read that other layer sorry. ur out of luck. if the xbox doesnt read the disc, there is NO way you can back them up

ok fair enough.....

is there any way i can get an inexpensive dvd drive replacment?

Even though Im pretty sure its my dvd drive since I got the box when they first came out in 01 and i go the thompson drive......is there any way to make sure its the dvd drive and not a different issue?

I'll be playing a game and all of a sudden it freezes or loads a lot until it freezes.

i've set the system clock, cleared my cache, deleted save game files........what else can i do?
