my xboxs got screwed i posted a few msgs about it before......so my question is if i buy a new one.....and i got a mod-chip is it hard to get the mobo to work with my current hard-drive and dvd like just put them togeter and it will work?

You wont have a problem with the DVD-ROM however the HD will be a problem because its locked to the old mainboard. You will have to unlock it and then relock it to the new mainboard.

there is no way to unlock your original hard drive without your original mainboard being fully functional :/

just buy either a cheap  hdd or a big one. and chuck the original away, unless you have already unlocked it.

You can unlock w/o the motherboard, but you need the password.

I locked mine from my PC, made a win98 boot disk and used HDDLOCK, they also have a HDDUNLOCK.

You needed the password to lock it..not sure if you need the password to unlock it, although you probably do.

yes you need the password to unlock it.

it will either be TEAMASSEMBLY if you have previously locked/unlocked it (using configmagic or liveinfo) or it will be the specially generated one from the original MB, which you will only be able to get from the original working motherboard
