Maybe try booting with the eject button... some chips work like this, or hold the power button for a couple of seconds...

Maybe email the person you bought it off and ask him about it

Just to note, it's soft modded. Did I screw this up forever without even getting to play around?

Ok, now I've got a problem. I accidentally switched the output to NTSC-J. Any way to change that back easily without FTPing?

There is a program at Xbins that you burn to a disc, and it lets you switch the video mode by pressing a button on the controller.

It is located at 'XBOX/apps/utilities/video mode switch'.

Also, if I hold down the power button, as if I were to go into the mod-screen, it goes into an infinite-reset loop.

(sorry about the double post, it wouldn't let me edit a second time)

Fixed it! The dashboard would boot if I had the Enigmah disc in the drive as well as held down the power button, and then I just pressed B to set it back to NTSC-M

Thanks all that helped or tried to! Just know that for soft-modded boxes this seems to be the only way to solve the problem.
