Problems Saving Any And All Changes.
« on: November 30, 2004, 04:05:00 AM »

chances are, if you delete unleashX, the items.xml, the config.xml, and the unleashX save file through the ms dash, and reinstall the latest version...

it should clear up your problem.

post back if it works.

as stated in the unleashX faq

QUOTE
I love the dash, but why is it not saving my settings change??
In early versions there was an issue with the way UX saves the settings, please edit your config.xml with     notepad or get the latest release (V0.36.0620a).

you are sure it is the latest you are using right?

hmm, after a search... i came up with a post that had this info for a similar, although not same problem.

QUOTE
Delete E:\UDATA\9e115330
Delete config.xml
Run UX (it will create a new config.xml)
Reboot
Make settings changes through the dashboard's Control Panel
Reboot and verify that settings took effect
Edit config.xml to add/remove/modify your menus
Reboot for effect

Thank You. Please drive thru. lol

i had this same problem a few days ago when i was playing around with some different config.xml files.  the solution in my case has already been posted here.

1. delete config.xml and items.xml
2. delete E:\UDATA\9e115330 (the whole folder)
3. reboot UnleashX
4. reboot Unleashx again
5. use the dashboard settings menu to reconfigure your settings
6. use ftp/text editor to edit ONLY the <Menu></Menu> section.  you can copy/paste from your other config file.

if this solution is not acceptable to you, please post the entire contents of the config.xml you are trying to use here.

P.S.  use the filemanager to delete E:\UDATA\9e115330 (the whole folder)

longshot... but you try deleting ava and its save/files?

then after unleashX is running well, try and reinstall ava as an app?

Well...

I could not be any more confused at this point.

I have completely wiped the E, X, Y, & Z drives. I have restored the C drive to factory.

I have changed the bios to the EXACT same bios running on my other machine (the one UnleashX works just fine on.

I have tried booting UnleashX from C, F, & G, and no matter what... It still will not boo tot anything but safe mode, and once there, it will not let me save any changes.

This makes NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER!!!

I can't even edit an xbe title from within UnleashX.

I tried booting it yet again, and while I was there, I thought I'd edit the title of one of the games, who's title I wanted to change. Well... I even get an error when trying to save that change.

It is as if UnleashX thinks it is being run off of CD or something. It is treating everything as read only. sad.gif

not that this will be of any help but I have the same problem
the only way i can get unleashx to run properly is to run it from avalaunch's file manager.
if i use try to start using the x3 bios config i get 'safe' mode.
I will be interested to find out what is causing this as it is infuriating.

you could try moving or renaming your app folders and then create some dummy ones.  it would basically be like clearing your F and G drives too, but without having to delete.  UX wouldn't detect anything then.  some people have reported problems with UX if they had any complex-tools apps installed.  you may have already said this, but which drive do you have UX installed on?

Well...

Your suggestion worked.

I moved everything on F & G into temp directories, except for UX, which I kept on the root of G, and it worked perfectly.

Now this makes even less sense. LOL

Hi,

Are you using an X3 Modchip? If so UnleashX does not support the paths correctly with this chip.

The solution is to use a program like X-Select..

Configure the X3 to use X-Select as the dashboard.
Configure X-Select to use Unleash as the default dashboard.
X-Select then passes the correct paths to unleashx.

Thats how I'm doing it. The Xbox takes 5 seconds more to boot..

Regards
CA
