k whenever theres a dashboard war thread somewhere,and when features of ux are beiing discussed , video preview feture gets main points.lots of newbies visit these threads to decide wich dash to use.i heard in a dash comparison thread a new bie straightaway said ux looks ugly...y

cos of that ms skin(it looks ugly,

,dosent have video preview support.so add a good skin like unleashed blue or alien device so the users will like it straight away.

i agree with organic_pepsi's criticism of the default skin. it is ugly to me too, but the default skin of avalaunch is ugly to me...so are the default skins of mxm and xbmc. it doesn't matter to me though, cause i know i can change the skin to whatever i want.

I agree that the UX default skin is ugly but thats only for one reason...
The dash was designed to be like the msdash, but because it never went 3d it ended up never being a very poor imitation. The main strength of UX now lies in the ease with which it can be skinned.
Maybe the default skin serves a good purpose as it encourages people to go off and get one of the many amazing skins? Maybe its what gives UX what little identity it has?

The only problem is that the current internal skin uses no extra graphics and if you add a new/proper skin to it you will increase the file size heaps

I agree 100%. Alien Device Blue would "sell" UX much better than default. There is no question about it IMO.

isnt that supposed to be one of the unleashX deashboards strong points, the easily created, and wide variety of skins available?

if people want to be ignorant... feck em' then.
i wouldnt change from unleashx for anything, im as loyal to that as i am to, uh, well... hmmmm. dunno, but its a great dash.

the thing i was going to say is.......
ok imagine all the other dash's with there default skin on,

and imagine ux..u know its different.ava ,evox,thc all these dashboards gives the same user
interface regardless of what the skin is.but ux looks like a ms dash clone with the def skin..so ppl go like aahhh another falied attempt to duplicate the ms dash...but with a(any) skin with video support the situation changes ....
i use alien divice blue and a modified unleashed blue skin with the xbox dvd animation(the one u get when u insert an xbox dvd to ur pc dvd rom drive)....and its drop dead gorgeous on my hdtv @ 720p

If there is a better default skin at the same size.. than so be it.
Other than that, screw all the n00bs
Then they can use some other dash.
I look at UX like this...
He made a dash for himself, cause he was tired of what others were offering.
He was kind enough to share it with the rest of us.
And some how, God only knows, he tolerates are criticism.
And makes the dash better and better as the days go on.
Just be thankful you can be a part of it.
And if you chose not be... then use another dash!
