The default speed ia 1.0x.

I tried 2.0x and 5.0x which sounds like a hairdryer

What is the safest speed to use apart from 1.0x and will choosing a faster speed shorten the fans life?

Also UnleashX reports my XBOX as a v1.1 but I thought I had a v1.2

Is the version info 100% accurate?

I keep my fan at 2.0, any higher and it is too loud. As far as the fan life, id rather replace a fan than a mobo...

my box was modded for me, and he set it to 3.0.
ive had no problems yet, and if this is too fast, pelase let me know.

You can change it in your System Settings too.

That's a pretty slick solution, but to tell you the truth, I spend most of my time in media center. Can I access the temp/fan controls in there?

you can always hard wire the "black?" wire to the metal casing on the inside of your xbox and it will ground it and make it a constant 12v

tut on tuts page "12v fan mod"

or do like i did... 10 shipped from newegg, 80mm 12v blue LED fan

I used the Temp. Threshold in Unelash to keep it at 46 Degrees Celcius (115 Farenhieht) and I was wondering....

1) Is this to low of a temp to try to maintain?

2) What is a good temp to keep my box at/how hot is TOO hot? (I have 300gb hd with leds in ports and jewel led ring)

3) If I use the Temp. Threshold it will totally overide what fan speed I have selected right?
