IP 192.168.1.101 (I didn't even enter this number)
DNS1 192.168.1.1
DNS2 192.168.1.7

It must have assigned itself this IP number but it works.  Could it have something to do with my 'lease' expiring?

ok so you just have things set to dhcp.  Which should have worked from the start anyway.  If you ever want to go back to static so that you always know your xbox ip use these values:

IP: 192.168.1.50
subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS1:  207.69.188.185
DNS2: 207.69.188.186

These will work just fine as well.  Make sure you reboot the xbox, after making these changes.

I used these exact settings and they didn't work for me...as far as feed and d/l goes.  I can ftp and use Xlink fine with it though.

I'm wondering if there is a conflict somewhere.  I use x-select and have UX as my default dash but I also have Evox and MXM.  I've not booted either of the other dashes even once since I've been trying to get my xbox online so I don't think they matter.

Whenever my settings do seem to stick and I get the feed and can d/l I lose those settings whenever I try to use Xlink from XBMC.  I think my conflict may be there.  I am using an unaltered .xml from XBMC with is supposed to use my dash network configs by default, correct?  The only time I've ever been able to use xbmc/xlink is when I have a static ip.

Whenever I set dhcp I get the funky IP of 10.252.197.213 and I can't do anything with it.  I'd much rather be static anyways.

I'm very sorry for cluttering up such a long thread.  I just really want to get this to work.  Once I do then I'll worry about getting the other xboxes on my network setup.  If my long thread has caused some confusion to my current settings then I can start a new thread and/or just repost my current setting.

Thanks

Change your subnet to 255.255.0.0

not necessary.

255.255.255.0 is just fine as long as both his xbox and his PC have that same subnet

mrRobinson's settings should work.  in your original post...

Also, what do you think the "lease" information is referring to?  About 2 months ago I bought this new new computer and had earthlink installed about a month ago.  I have no clue what "leased" could refer to.  I'm kinda nervous about that.

don't worry about the lease.  the dhcp server (in this case, your linksys router) leases an IP address to your computer.  in this case, it looks like it leases the IP for 1 day.  this is like leasing an apartment.  under all but the most bizarre circumstances, your computer will continue to get the same IP even after the lease expires.  it just renews the lease before it expires.  again, much like leasing an apartment.  as long as you pay your rent and let them know ahead of time that you plan to renew your lease, they're aren't gonna kick you out smile.gif

your answer to this may help answer alot of questions.  like what the actual IP of your liksys router (gateway) is and why you get that 10.x.x.x IP when on dhcp...

The very first post by me in this thread has my config/all.  That is all of it in its entirety.  I don't seem to have a Local Area Connection #1 and 2.

EDIT::  Well, with the current static setup with the ip of 192.168.1.50 the newsfeed does work.  Only problem is that I get an error 10060 when I try to d/l skins.  What does this error mean?

cool.  i was just trying to figure out how your PC was getting a 192.168.x.x address from DHCP but your xbox was getting a 10.x.x.x address.  that is very bizarre.  i felt like if we discovered why that was happening, we might discover why newsfeeds, etc.  wasn't working...

but since newsfeeds are now working, i'd leave the xbox IP configuration alone.  it looks right and apparently it is right if newsfeeds are working.

as for the skin d/l...
i've never used that feature.  may be an altogether different problem.  mrRobinson seems to have a good handle on you, so i'm going to step aside.  if you guys run out of ideas, i'll be back.
