Unleashx Xenium Question
« on: March 18, 2004, 01:23:00 AM »

Hello, everyone. Love the dashboard! Way to go unleashx! I just got a Xenium and I have a question... Under "System" in my config.xml I added:

Xenium-OS

And it doesn't work. It seams to want the "-" like this:

Xenium-OS

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, please help.
I also tried putting it in the root of the config file, so it wasn't under "System".
So that way it would be right there in the begining... Eg.:

Games
Apps
Emulation
System
Xenium-OS
Shut Down
Reboot

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I realize this is a VERY unteasted area as many people do not have Xeniums. I will be more than glad to test to help beneifit the growing UnleashX scene... smile.gif

Yeah it does work... Thank God!
But you do need the "-" between "Xenium" and "OS".
I find it really odd that it needs to be that way because that should be just a "title" not the actual cmd... I'll look deeper into it.

Its behavior is pretty much backwards. I changed my config.xml to this:

Xenium-OS

and i get this:

Unable to execute command.
Item:Xenium-OS
Action:Blah

WEIRD!

Hahaha, so I was right when I thought you were drunk biggrin.gif . That's what I've been telling you all along, the "Action" is what matters, not the value smile.gif .

@unleashx
Whats about implementing the smartxx os! Or Whats about Implemaneting abcdefg-os? What i mean is this:

ToDo:
Just implement the power short off function ! That's all!
The XBOX need to be shortly to power off state then the smartxx os will comes up! I think also not to name it smartxx-os or Xenium-os, just set the action name what it do.
Like
- reboot          [power short],
- reboot-warm [just restart unleashX],
- reboot-cold [Just Load the the current bios!]

That's all on the Reboot Options! I think all kind os reboots will be filled with this option! Also the Load of the Chip-OS will work!

SmartxxOS only needs a full reboot / power cycle, which should already be implemented.

@heinrich,
So you mean, evrytime you boot your Xbox, SmartxxOS is the first thing you'll see? Man, that must suck big time. Xenium was like this before, I'm not sure if it isn't now, but if I was the user, I'd hate that. I mean, I only wanted to see it if I instruct it too, or if I flip a dip switch. This was my same stand with Xenium OS before, as I mentioned in the XDashOS forum.

@Geminiserver,
All mod chip were designed differently from one another, so my guest is that they need different instructions to perform their specific functions. Mike (of Xenium OS) provided the address and the instruction hence, the support for it, though untested as I don't have a Xenium chip. In order for me to be able to support different chips, I need to know the same thing.

In the same breath, jokko game me some info about chameleon, so I'll take a look at how I can leverage on it and include it as a feature of the dash. While chameleon can be considered an old chip by today, I believe a considerable number of Xbox owners still use them.

The xenium with the updated OS does NOT boot to the menu everytime. Theres the instaboot option. By pressing the power button it directly boots to the bios of ur choice. IF you press the eject button, it boots to xenium OS.

Which all modchip with embedded systems should be implemented. I don't want to always select the BIOS to load. Worst case should be a timer with default BIOS selected and if I didn't press anything, load the default BIOS, not forcing me to select the BIOS to load everytime.
