laugh.gif  But I could forsee not so well informed people out there thinking that component = HDTV and enabling HDTV resolutions...

@ UnleashX: 480p works great now on my set. When the dash first came out, I was surprised at how much less overscan I got using UnleashX vs any of the other dash.  beerchug.gif Then shortly after that I learned how to calibrate my set even more and reduced overscan down to the preferred 5%.  laugh.gif

Nah man..
if you sell your xbox for an hdtv, you lose all the benefit!
Very few other things support HDTV smile.gif

Right now the XBOX is my only source for HDTV resolutions since I'm still waiting for the HD DTivo to come out. And yes, it would be a travesty if you have an HDTV set and dont have an XBOX.

@Loto_Bak: Thanks for the info. It should come in handy one day.

@ unleashx: an X2VGA should do nicely for now to get hd resolutions on your monitor with the xbox.

X2VGA is clearly my choice and the way I'm going. Maybe at the end of the month or after I get myself an HD AV Pack. I only have the Advance AV pack currently.

I have a sony HDTV capable of 1080i, 720p, 480p.  I use it with XBMC and Xports emus perfectly.  I also DVI out from my PC, i would love to have a Dashboard that supported HD, especially unleashx, as its my current dash.

Yeah, this is something I'd like to see as well.  I have a 36" Sony Wega with the MS high def cables.

I've been trying to play with 480p on my friend's NEC Widescreen HD plasma. I must be doing something wrong because every game I start from UnleashX, my box is sitll outputting 480i.

Anyhow, I was mostly wondering how I would be able to run games that support 16:9 modes like Amped 2 (which can also run in 720p), Dead or Alive:Extreme Beach Volleyball.

Obviously, I'm a newb. I'm searching all the forums and the menus for enabling such functions, but haven't run into much luck so far. It seems the only way is to run my originals from the M$Dash with all the appropriate settings. Is that correct?

I kind of figured so much, but I need some clarification around Step 4.

After having set up the settings in the M$Dash, then rebooting, can I reboot into a Launcher then launch a game into 16:9 and progressive? Or is it only original discs?

Who has an HDTV set that is capable of displaying 720P and/or 1080i? Please post here if you want to test this feature, as I have no way of testing it. I was looking at it a bit today and figured it shouldn't be too hard to implement. But I need a few who can try it out for me. It ain't done yet, I'll be starting working on it over the weekend if I can get a few people to sign in. Just wanna know how it would look like and if I need to move things around to look decent.

I have a HDTV but it is only capable of 1080i.  720p is going to be the harder one, since most projections don't support that mode.

The real MS dashboard is only 480i, but 99.9% of the games are 480p, a few are 720p and one at 1080i

Once you have made the necessary changes in you ms dash; your launcher, be it evox, unleashx, mxm, etc will launch the game in the highest resolution the game supports (be it that you enabled the resolution through the ms dash video settings). It doesn't matter if it's a backup off the HDD or an original DVD.
