Good work...as everyone can clearly see, UX and EvoX outboot MXM by far...so now it all depends on stability, features, and GUI smile.gif

you make the choice

In all fairness to MXM... it is only on the 1st boot that it takes that long.. every other time.. the boot times are fairly close enough to call them even...

I am very impressed with UnleashX's boot times... but as unleashx said, future releases can change anything... as of right now though.. I'm am very happy with UnleashX's feature set... there are a few things that would make my life easier, notably a save game manager and audio cd to sound track database ripper and a sound track manager to go with it...  but I would much rather have the dash made stable before new features are added...

anyway.. I'm pretty tired and I don't even know what the hell I just said...

Yeah.. to clarify for people..
MXM's  1 minute, 46 second boot ONLY occurs the very first time you boot it...
EVER...
it scans your directories looking for XBE files... the writes them to a cache file...
and that's only when you have 50 games installed on a 250 gb drive smile.gif lucky bugger....

every boot after that, you're looking at a difference of 2 seconds....
MXM is 13 seconds, Unleash is 11 seconds..

you're looking at under a 2 second difference...
1.........2............

it's just perceptually different due to the wait graphics MXM uses...

I think that is rather unfair...because you will not experience those boot times in normal operation...only the VERY FIRST time you boot...i say test should be redone...even though i love UX smile.gif

PcArcade... ThC looks really cool to me.. but I only heard of it 2 days ago and haven't gotten a chance to find out where to get it or how to modify my ms dash with it..
I did want to include this.. and when I have time (this weekend).. I will run test on that.. (assuming I can find the information and downloads, need to install it... if ANYONE can help,, you know where to reach me)

I missed the ";)" in that post, I wasn't being wholly serious.

Although it would be nice to see results, also, having actually thought about it now ( wink.gif ) including the original dash (unmodified) would be nice too. I can help with tHc if you need it.

By the way MXM doesn't just do that 1 minute boot up the very first time!

ANYTIME YOU ADD SOMETHING NEW...be it Game...or APP....you have to RESET THE MENU CACHE so that MXM can detect it....that takes a good minute and a half also.  It's what I hated the most when I was forced to use it because UX wasn't booting.

It's boggling to me how MXM can't autodetect any new .xbes or just search them everytime (I dont know how UX or Evox do it....but they get the same boot time, and they autodetect).

Still, nice little speed test.

Ok not nevermind...( I did edit to nevermind but decide to post anyways)

What is with the blatant ripping of MXM in a test that shows it and the other dashes 2 seconds apart (The length of time it takes for me to look away from the screen and back at it)

Then the whole 1:45 thing, yes it is long, but umm how could you hate that part the most (were you backing up a game, or adding a new app everyday you ever use your Xbox, Did you ever actually play those games instead of doing that ?)

Yeah an everyday test with the menu_cache written should better the test (if it does not, it is still helpful also, it will point out some problems to BJ)

But still good job so far UX, things are looking up and up, and yes another test should be run when the new boot thing is up, as a recusive search is default for now and that is what adds all that boot time, where as if you were to setup recursive to false you would almost definitely yield a lower time...

Thanks all dash devs...

Sometime in the future when you are older and wiser you may look back on this test and realise how sad all this really was.

I really have seen it all now , stopwatching a boot sequence for fooken shiteys sake.

The mind boggles  , play ya fooken box dont time it.
