Unleashx Intro And Loading Movies
« Reply #30 on: July 08, 2004, 07:19:00 AM »

Hi,

Once I have found some video's that I like, how do I get them to work?

What files must I modify? Where must the videos be placed on the xbox?

Thanks, th3gh05t

To my understanding,

Edit the skin.xml of the skin you're using, so that the line in blue appears after the skin name and information block.

<Skin name....
  <Information.....
  </Information>
<IntroMovie>f:\where_your_wmv_or_xmv_is\what_its_called.wmv</IntroMovie>

I think you might be able to set this line in config.xml as well, with it being over-ridden if specified in the loaded skin. Not sure... sorry.

@XBoxgeek,
I'm trying to optimize WMV playback. I tried a couple of WMV's already which are now playing quite alright, but not as neat as XMV. It's probably one of the reason why MS dropped WMV support for the later XDKs.

I'll probably release a tool to convert WMV to XMV format, but, with the use of one of the tools that came with the XDK. Also, I'm trying to determine if it does make sense. I know a lot of you guys uses several dashboards. I want as much as possible to use a common format as well as common filenames for the available dashes out there. Right now, only UnleashX supports XMV, if I make the tool, only UnleashX can use it and that's why I'm having a second thought. Maybe MXM users here can ask BenJeremy to put XMV support biggrin.gif . Really, I don't care if this feature is adapted by other dashboards, it's not my own format, you know what I'm saying? Further, XMV format is well optimized for Xbox.

The missing audio after 3 seconds of playback is also fixed in the next release.

Did this tool ever get released?

If anyone fancies trying it, I've just posted an XMV version of the Fony 21 splash video at http://www.xbox-skin...p?download=1740

I guess as the intro movie will be short (between 2~6 seconds). I created the prx to have a high bitrate 1000kbps with a resolution of 640x480. You can download the prx file from here...

Any chance anyone still has this file?!

Great idea. Maybe when we get a few more this topic can be pinned like the skins topic.

I don't mind.

Okay I have been playing about with this and it does seem STOIK Video Converter is the easiest to use for most people. I have created a prx file that you can use to encode your AVI, MPG or WMV files into WM8 (you must have a WM8 codec on your pc).

Just pop it in the same folder as your copy of Stoki, select your input & output file. Browse for my prx file (in the drop down list of profiles select "Browse for more profiles..) then click start. Job done..

If this is useful I can creat a profile for preview videos. That way we can all encode the same way.

Intentional, because to insert that sound I would have to use 2 different Video Programs so I did the 2nd one without. I am gonna fool around a bit more and probably have two versions of upcoming intro videos, one with and one without sound.

The Main Video ( Titel, Fire, Explosion, etc. ) was made using Ulead's Cool 3D Production Studio, I then exported it as an AVI. To add sounds I used MAGIX Video Deluxe 2004.

Finally I converted it with Stoiks Converter using XBOXGEEKS .PRX File
